Argentina have put their faith in largely domestic-based talent as they look to translate recent improvements in the Rugby Championship onto the Rugby World Cup stage.

Only seven overseas internationals – five from the English Premiership and two from the French Top 14 - have made it into head coach Daniel Hourcade’s final 31-man squad with the rest of the squad all plying their trade at home or currently unattached.

Racing Metro’s Juan Imhoff, Argentina’s hat-trick hero in Los Pumas’ shock Rugby Championship win over South Africa a fortnight ago, is joined in the squad by Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe (pictured) of Toulon, while the English quintet includes recently capped Newcastle centre Juan Pablo Socino as well as Horacio Agulla (Bath), Marcelo Bosch (Saracens) Marcos Ayerza (Leicester) and Mariano Galarza (Gloucester).

Agulla, Bosch, Ayerza, Juan Manuel Leguizamón (pictured) and Juan Martín Hernández are set to make their third appearance at a Rugby World Cup. Another 19 will be making their Rugby World Cup debut, while seven are playing a World Cup for the second time.

The Pumas concluded their RWC 2015 preparations with a 26-12 home defeat to the Springboks on Saturday, just a week after their historic win in Durban.

The players will have two weeks off before leaving for England where they will play English Premiership giants Leicester, on 5 September at Welford Road as part of Ayerza's testimonial year.

They will also take part in a training camp in Portugal before their opening match of the tournament against holders New Zealand on 20 September.

Argentina, who are favourites to qualify from Pool C alongside the All Blacks, will be hoping to at least their previous best Rugby World Cup performance of third place back in 2007.
