Player and coach reaction at the end of the NZI Sevens in Wellington, the third event of the 2009/10 IRB Sevens World Series.
Emosi Vucago, Fiji captain(Cup winners)
"We've sacrificed a lot. In Dubai and George we lost in the semi finals and we went back to Fiji and trained hard. On New Year's eve we were in camp and that's why we've won the tournament today - we're very proud."
Iliesa Tanivula, Fiji coach
"It's a great feeling to get there, there's been a lot of hard work by the players to get there, as with all the other teams. To come out on top is great for the fans, they've been here for two days, they've been really vocal and I guess it's for everyone.
"Credit to the players the way they've come in with a disciplined mindset, it's a great bunch of players to work with and hopefully we can keep on going up from here.
"There's that island rivalry with Samoa. They're always up there, they're always physical. We've shared a changing room the last couple of days. For the final they had to move to another changing room and it was a tough game."
Pat McCutcheon, Australia captain (Plate winners)
"We know that South Africa won the World Series last year and we're always quite built up to play them, so any opportunity we're pumped up.
"It was all about keeping our composure. Early on they held on to a lot of the possession in the first half, so we needed to regain possession in the second half and control the game and I think the boys did that extremely well there.
"Wellington has to be the best atmosphere I've been to so far, so I'm really looking forward to getting out in amongst the crowd."
Gordon Tietjens, NZ coach (losing Cup semi finalists)
"We've won it five times here, but just not today. I think we played pretty well in this tournament up until now and it's just one of those shabby semi finals. We missed a couple of tackles and that was probably to the key for us yesterday, the way we defended, so we're pretty disappointed in that.
"I think we lacked a bit of accuracy too, too much width and there's a bit of a breeze out here and obviously we didn't play well enough for the conditions.
"They broke us and they're very good in support as well. They matched up upfront physically and they took it too us and they've probably been the sleeping giant of the tournament. They were always going to get up for New Zealand, they've done it in the past."
Ben Gollings, England (losing Cup semi finalists)
"Fair credit to the Fijians, they stuck at it and they've been the stand-out team in this tournament so far.
"I thought we had the goods, we just didn't put it together. It was tight, that's what those semi finals are like, the bounce of the ball, and we didn't hold onto it well enough, we weren't patient enough and the Fijians make you pay.
"You can't give them room, they've got so much pace and that's what cost us today.
"We are a young squad, apart from myself, and they are really growing up and improving tournament by tournament. To be honest, we should be in a final, but you've got to win those games."
