China: Fact file

Form guide

China's women underlined their growing credentials with a near faultless performance in 2024, capped off with victory at the Monaco repechage where they beat Kenya 24-7 in women’s final to book their place in Paris. Before that, they won all three Challenger Series events they played - in Dubai, Uruguay and Poland - to finish top of the table and won promotion to the 2024/25 SVNS series.

Star dust

Sevens commentator and reporter Rob Vickerman says: "Chen Keyi brings boundless, infectious energy and a dose of experience to a side which I'm expecting to cause a bit of a stir in Paris."

Road to Paris 2024

China were impressive all season in the World Rugby Challenger Series and took that momentum into the Monaco repechage where they beat Kenya 24-7 in women’s final to book their place in Paris.

Previous Olympics

China's women did not compete at Rio 2016 but qualified for Tokyo 2020, where they finished third in their pool and lost to eventual silver medallists France 24-10 in the quarter-finals.
