Form guide

Brazil's women finished 10th in the regular season SVNS standings, which meant they travelled to Madrid for the Grand Final needing to fight to retain their core status for next season. Ultimately, they managed to achieve that goal with a confident 38-7 defeat of promotion-relegation rivals Poland.

Star dust

Sevens commentator and reporter Rob Vickerman says: "She may stand at just five feet tall, but Thalia Costa's electric outside break enabled her to scorch away from many an opponent this season. When she is on song, Brazil come to life."

Road to Paris 2024

Brazil's women were once again peerless at the regional level, winning the South American sevens title for a 21st time to qualify for Paris 2024. Their journey in Montevideo included wins against Peru 27-0, Argentina 17-5 and Paraguay 27-0 on the first day, and further victories followed against hosts Uruguay 48-0, Chile 45-7 and Colombia 38-0.

Previous Olympics

Brazil's women competed at Rio 2016 as hosts and won one of their pool matches. Four years on they qualified for Tokyo 2020 and were winless in pool play.

Brazil's men also competed at Rio 2016 as host nation but failed to win a match.
