World Rugby review and update the research priorities annually. 

The following areas have been identified as research priorities where we are particularly interested to hear from applicants in annual calls for funding:

• Concussion
• Injury surveillance and prevention at all levels of the game
• Player welfare research in womens rugby
• Transgender participation
• Anti-doping
• Mental health and substance abuse
• Long-term health consequences of rugby participation

Other research topics may be submitted. Periodically, World Rugby may supplement the annual call for research funding with requests for tender for specific studies or projects. These tenders will be announced as and when projects are identified.
