Timing

With the introduction and expansion of the shot clock. World Rugby recognises the additional work required to deliver timing solutions that are fit for purpose in-venue. As a result, a guidance document for the delivery of timing solutions including shot clocks has been developed.

Timing Delivery Guidelines

  • Timing for 15's Rugby
  • Timing for 7's Rugby

World Rugby Timing System

To help to solve these issues are World Rugby events, World Rugby have led the development of a timing system specifically for rugby that can be adapted to the 15s or 7s game. It gives full control to the timekeeper to:

  • Start and stop the match clock
  • Edit the match clock in game
  • Start the shot clock countdown
  • Record the scores with a try counter
  • Record yellow and red cards and apply any applicable countdown timers

The system will also, automatically:

  • Stop all countdown timers in line with the match clock
  • Sound a buzzer when the shot clock timer hits 0 seconds
  • Sound a buzzer when the time is up in each half

The system integrates through a key and fill output via HDMI to a big screen or an API can be used to integrate with other systems including broadcast graphics.

For more information on this system please contact Game Systems.

This system has been developed by a third party and there is a charge applicable for its use. This cost will depend on the use case and World Rugby have no control or input into the pricing structure used.
