Tom Mitchell, England captain, Plate winners: “The thing we are most happy with is the heart shown by the boys to turn it around and the effort was really there in those last two games. It is always great to have home support, Scotland have done so well this week and it is great to know we are heading home to play at Twickenham in front of a home crowd and now we can start getting excited about it.”

Frederic Pommarel, France coach, Bowl winners: “I am happy, it is a good tournament for France, with four wins. We lost against Canada, but they are now a great team. It was a very difficult season for France, but now it is better and I hope for England.“

Adam Thomas, Wales captain, Shield winners: “It is a frustrating two days, we were chasing too many games. But to finish with two wins is a bit of momentum going into next weekend. London is a massive tournament, a chance for our family and friends to come and watch and we will go out all guns blazing."

Phil Mack, Canada captain, on reaching Cup final: “It is huge for the team. We started something good in Vegas. Always a special team but this group has the belief and that it is something good."

DAY ONE - Gemmell: "We had a responsibility to perform"

Stephen Gemmell, Scotland coach, on reaching Cup quarters for first time since Dubai: “It is very special to do it in front of the home crowd and even more pleasing to do it with three wins. The crowd were wonderful, we had a responsibility and we need to keep building as we have a home Commonwealth Games ahead in July. I would have bitten your hand off with this situation."

Geraint John, Canada coach, Cup quarter finalists: "I think to finish off the day topping the pool, the players should be proud of. To do it here, we knew where we were at the end when Phil kicked it out but it will give us confidence, it is the fifth time we have reached the Cup in a row.”

DJ Forbes, New Zealand Sevens' most-capped player: "It's pretty special, I never thought I would be around this long. It is a team sport, the hard work that everyone else does helps me do my bit. As far as the Seires goes, anything can happen."

Connor Trainor, Canada, on that try: "I would like to say I was practising it, but it was a little bit lucky and the French were surprised I guess. I was just happy to get one.”

Mike Adamson, Scotland player turned referee: "A Lot different but the same nerves, and really enjoyable. My mouth was dry and there were a few lung busters, but my fitness and speed carried me through. It keeps me involved, on the pitch and is anther opportunity to stay involved, on the World Series. Still a few players I played against so I know what to look out for."
