Ben Ryan, Fiji's jubilant winning coach: "Osea has been a brilliant captain. I had to keep them level-headed after the semi but I didn't need to do anything. The were humble and ready to go. We were in control today and it's just great. We have amazing talent on the island and this is the start for us. We need to build on that - I have never seen a game of Sevens like the one we did in the semi-final."
Australia captain Ed Jenkins, Bowl winners: "It's good to get that win but it wasn't the best performance [overall], so that was a bit upsetting. Our attack today wasn't that sharp but the boys will do the work over the next week and hopeflly we can turn it around in Port Elizabeth."
Vincent Deniau, France captain, Shield winners: "Yesterday was very hard to take with three losses in the pool stages. We are very sad about this tournament, but we have to look forward now and everything is possible in Sevens."
South Africa coach, Neil Powell, after Cup semi final win: "I think the boys showed great character. They are a great bunch of guys. We know that England are a good team - they've shown some great form in this tournament - so hats off to my guys for playing so well. We have two injured guys so only 10 are fit to play. It will definitely take a team effort to put one past Fiji, but hopefully we can do it."
Ben Ryan, Fiji coach, after record win over New Zealand: "I am speechless. The boys had their heads screwed on. They are a great bunch and we will now press the reset button for the final."
England captain, Tom Powell:"There were words last night after the Fiji game. We felt we gave them the game. The boys came out positive today and we were really strong. It's the noise from the ex-pats that gets us up and going and we can't wait for the semi-finals. South Africa are always a tough team to play, there's a great rivalry between us."
Samoa coach Viliamu Punivalu: "I was very disappointed and very heartbroken yesterday. Unfortunately the boys lacked commitment yesterday. It was a bit scrappy just now but we can build on it. If we play Australia later I'll look forward to it."
DAY ONE REACTION
New Zealand coach Gordon Tietjens, Cup quarter finalists: "We have come on and some of the new younger guys have pushed themselves into the top starting seven, which is great and there is a lot of competition for places in a strong squad on paper."
Kyle Brown, SA captain (100% on day one): "Things are so much tougher these days, you used to win two games and that would be it, now you have to punch all the way through and win that last game in your pool. We're stoked to be in the quarter-finals and we'll give it out all."
Paul John, Wales coach: "It has been a great day for us today. Everyone thought they could go through from our pool so to come out on top, it was a great performance. We have to build on it though, and get through those Cup quarters."
Stephen Gemmell, Scotland coach: "More difficult than we should have made it in that match and it is a credit to Spain. We fronted up really well against Australia, and before we came into this match we said we just needed to apply pressure to the other two teams. We have shown today we are good enough to be there we just need to be a bit more clinical and cut out the errors."
Ben Ryan, Fiji coach (Cup quarter finalists): "It was close, started well, but we went a bit passive in defence and Canada put us under real pressure. A little bit of a get out of jail there. I am looking forward to seeing how the match with England goes. It was 26-10 in the Gold Coast, will the gap wider, will it go narrower, I am looking forward to it."
New Zealand's Tim Mikkelson (Cup quarter finalists): "Our first game we didn't start that well and got better as it went on so we wanted to start better here and I think we did that. I have never won here, so it would be good to do so."
Kenya captain Andrew Amonde, on reaching the Cup quarter finals: "We are trying hard. The boys are really catching up and adapting to the South African style of play of our new coach. We are relaxed because we are taking everything one step at a time."
Carlin Isles, USA Sevens and Keep Rugby Clean ambassador: "It is a privilege to be part of Keep Rugby Clean. It is a clean sport right here and I feel really honored."
Mike Ellery, England Sevens, on claims he is the second fastest in the squad: "There were a few injuries at the time and I had just come back from a few weeks in Thailand so I was bit lighter.
Colin Gregor, Scotland captain (after victory over Australia): "It is nice to get the win. It is a cliche but we have been training hard at home and come out and down what we've been working on which is great. It's certainly good to be back."
