Disciplinary update: Stefano Buruiana (Romania)

Stefano Buruiana has had his citing for an offence contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackling) in Romania’s November international match against Canada on 16 November overturned by a disciplinary committee.

Stefano Buruiana appeared before an independent Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday, 20 November, having been cited for an offence contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackling) in Romania’s November international match against Canada on Saturday, 16 November.

The independent Disciplinary Committee was chaired by Philippe Cavalieros (France), joined by former international players Jacques Boussuge (France) and Stefan Terblanche (South Africa).

The player accepted that he had committed an act of foul play but challenged the citing complaint.

Having considered all the available evidence, including the application of World Rugby’s Head Contact Process, the submissions by the player and his representatives, and all available camera angles, the independent Committee determined that the citing was not upheld.

The player is therefore free to play immediately.

The player has the right of appeal within 48 hours of the issuing of the full written decision, which will appear here once published.
