Described as the first superstars of the French game, brothers André and Guy Boniface made 83 test appearances between them in the 1950s and 60s.

Both centres for the majority of their careers, the Bonifaces formed a highly effective midfield partnership with Stade Montois (Mont-de-Marsan) and France.

André made his Les Bleus debut in 1954 and was a member of the first French team to beat New Zealand and win the Five Nations Championship outright. Younger brother Guy entered the international arena in 1960 and went on to win 35 caps to André’s 48.

In 1963, the pair helped Stade Montois win their one and only French Championship, André kicking a penalty and a drop goal in the final against local rivals US Dax.

André stopped playing in 1968 after his brother was tragically killed in a car accident.
